Happiness - Don't Settle For Happy Hour
Many people drag themselves into work they did not enjoy, then get involved in a daily or weekly ritual called Happy Hour in the Woodlands. Finally they relaxed, joked with others and even smiled and laughed.
How sad that there are so many employees who tolerate jobs they don't enjoy all week and are satisfied with a little pleasure during Happy Hour. Although Happy Hour is actually around three hours, it is still not comparable to living a happy life. Isn't it fun to have the job you enjoy so you don't have to let it be happy?
According to a report on msnbc.com, more than half of American workers are not satisfied with their work. And that is not only a blue collar worker, as some people might think. After starting their careers, many doctors, dentists and lawyers found that they did not enjoy their work. Some claimed to surrender to family or social careers to find a "prestigious" or "family tradition" career. Then once they started their careers, they felt depressed to stay mostly because of the need to pay back student loans.
Complaining about work is a favorite lunch topic for many employees. For some people, this is the culmination of weekdays. Why do we stay in the work we hate? Of course, we need to get money to feed our families and pay our bills. You will not get into an argument about that. But can't we do it well, maybe even better, working on something we like?
Not according to job haters. They feel jammed, defeated and unable to change their lives. They spend hours in their lives that tolerate unattractive jobs, antagonistic colleagues and emotionally rough bosses. They appeared day after day, week after week, for years with rewards of money, in some cases, barely paying their bills.
Then there are people who are looking for easy money, unlike small thieves. They remain in the job they hate, knowing that they will be paid even if they do a minimum or less. This employee enjoyed deceiving the company by recording late time but left early, took a three - happy hour lunch break and left most of the jobs to other employees who had a high sense of responsibility. This dishonest employee really feels empowered by their fraud.
Other types of employees have low self-esteem and confidence that he remains in the job he hates because he does not believe he can get another. These people are like harassed couples who live with their partners, believing, among other defects, they will never find or do not deserve another partner.
And, of course, there are professionals mentioned above, who exchange positions and prestige with money, but serve their patients and clients.
Isn't it better if what we like and what we pay is the same? This might sound magical, mysterious or out of reach, but not. However, it requires courage.
So that this concept works, you must find what you really like. Your first thought might be that you will enjoy not doing anything. I'm sure you will indeed enjoy it for a while. But soon your human spirit will miss meaningful activities, something that must be done. Your work is more than what you do to make money. This is a big piece in your life. It must be your mission. If it doesn't feel like that to you, it's not too late.
Make a good choice about your work. Committed to finding the job you like and reap the excitement of being paid to do it.
